World Language Club is for all students currently enrolled in either French or Spanish. The club meets about once a month to explore another culture together. Sometimes, we have movie nights at school. Sometimes, we make crepes and Spanish tortilla omelets in the FCS room. Sometimes, we go out to eat at an culturally authentic restaurant in Omaha. We always have fun though!
Mary Clare Liescheski. (Co-Sponsor). firstname.lastname@example.org Bonjour! My name is Mary Clare Liescheski, and I am the French teacher at Douglas County West High School and Middle School. I am so thrilled to be a part of this wonderful district! My journey to teaching French is both long and non-traditional. I received my B. A. in French from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 2009. The next year, I moved to France for a year to teach English at a university just east of Paris. I returned home to Lincoln where I taught French 101 and 102 at UNL, and I also taught part-time at a Middle School in LPS. I received my M.A. in French Literature in 2013, and now I am honored to be teaching in Valley. I currently live in the Benson area with my cats named Roman (the French word for a "novel") and Klaus. In my spare time I like to travel, read, cook, and watch Netflix.
Denise Schultz. (Co-Sponsor). email@example.com ¡Hola! Me llamoSeñora Schultz. I am originally from Kearney, Nebraska. I was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduating from Kearney Senior High I attended NCTA (Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture) in Curtis, Nebraska and then UNK in Kearney, Nebraska. I attended the veterinary technician program at the first and received my Spanish and ESL degree at UNK. In 1989 I attended the University of Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico for 5 weeks through UNK. I acquired a job at Omaha Public Schools in 1991. I got married in 1996. I quit OPS and went to Metropolitan Community College in Omaha for Web design in 1998.
In 2003 I had my daughter Laurel and she was so cute we decided to have another baby in 2005. We named her Audrey.
I then was hired at St. Pius/St. Leo in Omaha for 1 year. Realizing I wanted a full time position again I applied at Valley Public Schools and was hired.
In 2015 my husband and I traveled to La Paz, Bolivia through our church, Bethany Lutheran, to see and help the organization Kaya that was funded by Bethany. This organization rescued street children and gave them food and education. It was a wonderful experience! I hope to travel to another Spanish speaking country soon.
